Sunlight

Sunlight has maintained its cult status across generations of consumers and continues to light up their lives...
As sure as Sunlight...
Sunlight is the flagship brand of Unilever Sri Lanka which celebrates 125 years this year. Sunlight had always derived its strength through a strong emotional equity with the consumer through trust and heritage. Sunlight soap stands for good quality and is the benchmark in the category. For the Sri Lankan consumer, Sunlight is much more than a laundry soap and is inextricably linked to their life in many ways (used for laundry, bathing and washing dishes etc).
How it all began...
- Sunlight soap (Yellow) was first imported to Sri Lanka in 1900. The turning point was when in 1940 Sunlight was manufactured locally.
- Then in 1998 Sunlight further made its presence felt in the market by extending its equity into Powder, enhancing “Superior wash” and “Care for Hands” making washing clothes even more convenient.
- Sunlight soap introduced its Green (Herbal) variant in 2002 thus focusing on efficient cleaning using national ingredients.
- Due to Detergent Powders gaining increased acceptance driven by convenience benefits the launch of Sunlight Detergent Powder in 2003 gave a whole new dimension to the Brand.
- In 2004 further empowering its stand in the laundry bar market Sunlight launched its perfume variant.
- Launch of a mini Sunlight bar to drive franchise in Rural households happened in 2005.

- Today Sunlight enjoys iconic status in the country, dominating laundry soaps with a 75% market share and is possibly the most recognised brand in Sri Lanka
