Astra has been the trusted brand by Sri Lankan mothers for years. Astra realised that many youngsters were interested in cricket and wanted to uplift the standard of cricket in Sri Lanka. This would also set them on the right track of developing their personalities, attitudes and values so as to build a solid foundation for their future growth as individuals.
Astra Cricket Cup
Under this project, each year Astra sponsors the under 14 and under 16 Schools Cricket Tournaments, while extending support to the more holistic development of these children through a series of workshops on nutrition and balanced diet. These workshops are attended by not only the students but also their principals, teachers and cricket coaches. Educational quiz programmes are also conducted in order to create a more enjoyable learning experience. The project culminates in an Awards Ceremony, during which each of the participating schools receive Rs. 25,000 worth of cricket equipment to facilitate further skill development amongst young school cricketers.
