Unilever's Sunsilk Re-launches with a New look and a New Philosophy.
Life Can't Wait, Why Should Hair?
At a sparkling launch event held at Waters Edge recently, Unilever Sri Lanka's premium shampoo brand Sunsilk re-launched their range of hair type specific shampoos and conditioners in style, with new packaging, fragrances and an overall look and feel designed to appeal to the young woman of today.
New Sunsilk claims to transform the beauty of an individual's hair starting from the very first wash. Apart from introducing improved formulations of the shampoo and conditioner ranges, Sunsilk introduced new products like hair treatment masks and leave on conditioners for damaged hair, in addition to leave on scalp lotions that combat dandruff, all specifically designed to meet the hair needs of today's generation.
The re-launch took place under the "Life Can't Wait" mantra - one that has been designed to fit in with the 'go out and get it' attitude of today's young women.
Speaking about the development of the Life Cant Wait insight, Brand Manager for Sunsilk, Bishma Weeraman said "The campaign is based on the powerful insight that in Sri Lanka young women, today more than any other time in history, are striving with powerful determination to make the best of their lives.
In a recent research conducted by Unilever it was identified that 96% of young Sri Lankan women believed their destiny was in their hands and they had the power to shape their lives & make good things happen.
This unique consumer insight has paved way for Sunsilk’s new Campaign "Life Can't Wait". This campaign is about celebrating the spirit of being a woman & encouraging the young women of
Today to take their destiny in to their hands. The campaign showcases and celebrates the lives of famous personalities who carved their destinies through sheer will & determination to succeed".
An integral part of the campaign is the use of globally recognized icons whose lives and personal philosophies personify the spirit of the Life Can't Wait campaign. These include showbiz legends Madonna, Marilyn Monroe and pop star, Shakira. In India, the brand is endorsed by former Miss World, Priyanka Chopra who soared from the small village off Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh into the big glitz of Bollywood.
In Sri Lanka, the role of Sunsilk icon has been captured by cricketing sensation Lasith Malinga, whose bold hair style, along with his remarkable performance on the pitch have made world headlines and created a huge cult following in Sri Lanka.
Speaking about his role as an ambassador of the Life Can't Wait philosophy Lasith Malinga said "I’m not afraid to let my individuality stand out and don’ t think anyone should be, I'm proud to be one of the icons for Sunsilk, as I too share in this philosophy and believe that we should all make maximum use of every opportunity that comes our way".
New Sunsilk has also launched its own website, with a special section dedicated to the young women of Sri Lanka.
