Unilever Sri Lanka adjudged one of ten best corporate citizens

Unilever’s commitment and contribution towards creating a better future for all in Sri Lanka was endorsed by being selected as one of the Ten Best Corporate Citizens in the nation for 2012. Unilever was bestowed this honour at the Best Corporate Citizen 2012 Awards, organized by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, on the 12th November 2012.

Having commenced in 2004 with the objective of recognizing best-in-class sustainable business practices adopted by the corporate sector, these prestigious awards have been held for 9 consecutive years. This award is considered one of the premier recognitions in the corporate sector, with companies being evaluated on their performance in the areas of environment, employee relations, customer and supplier relations, community relations and CSR.

Speaking on this achievement, Chairman of Unilever Sri Lanka, Mr. Amal Cabraal stated, “This award is testament to the work done by our team in Sri Lanka to contribute to Unilever’s global ambition of doubling the business while halving its environmental footprint.

The past year has been a year of innovation, change and learning for Unilever Sri Lanka, with several key milestones such as the relocation of our factory to Horana and the launch of the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan. I am proud of our achievements in the past year and we plan to build upon this in the years to come as we continue to grow and build a sustainable and better future for all”.

Unilever Sri Lanka is one of the biggest FMCG companies in Sri Lanka operating in multiple categories including home care, personal care, food and beverage. Established in 1938 with iconic and popular brands such as Sunlight, Lux and Pears, Unilever has a 75 year long presence in Sri Lanka.
