USL wins most awards at SLIM-Nielsen People’s Awards
It was a golden evening for Unilever Sri Lanka at the SLIM-Nielsen People’s Awards, as the company won the most number of awards at the ceremony held at Water’s Edge on the 19th of March. With the iconic germ-protection brand Lifebuoy leading the way, Sunlight and Laojee joined the party to bring home a total tally of five awards.
Lifebuoy bagged the awards for People’s FMCG Brand of the Year, Youth FMCG Brand of the Year, and Personal Care Brand of the Year. Sunlight won the award for Household Care Brand of the Year, while Laojee won the award for Hot Beverage Brand of the Year.
This is the second year in a row that Lifebuoy has swept the stakes at the People’s Awards, and the fifth time it has won the award for Personal Care Brand of the Year, proving once again that it occupies a special place in the hearts and minds of Sri Lankan consumers. That nine Unilever brands including Knorr, Signal, Lux, Pears, Surf Excel, and Vim, were nominated in seven different awards categories, was testament to these brands being a part of daily life in homes across our nation.
Crafting Brands for Life
In response to this achievement, Marketing Director for Home and Personal Care, Asanga Ranasinghe, said, “Consumers are at the heart of all that we do at Unilever. Winning these awards is a special achievement for us as it is proof that these iconic brands have won the consumers’ affection and confidence.”

The SLIM-Nielsen People's Awards is a prestigious event held annually by the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing – the national body of marketers of Sri Lanka, in association with the Nielsen Company. The awards are extra special to marketers and brands as it is based on the votes of the general public, as opposed to other awards that is based on the selection of a jury.
