USL marks its presence at edex mid year expo

Unilever Sri Lanka emphasized its commitment to developing talent for the country, marking its presence at the EDEX Mid Year Expo. The Unilever team came together to help the job seeking community, especially the youth, to find themselves a career, and also helped them feel the “Unilever way of life” at the Unilever stall. There were more than 20,000 people who attended both the Education and Job Fairs, which were held at the SLECC on the 30th and 31st August, with more than 10,000 participants on both days visiting the Unilever stall and interacting with the team.

There are many initiatives that USL pioneers to reach out to its target audience and attract the best talent in the market and help them chalk out a career for themselves. Having understood that the masses are unaware of the ways in which one can make a career at Unilever, the EDEX Job Fair was an amazing platform to make this target group aware of the 4 ways through which they can enter Unilever, namely, the Unilever Leaders Internship Programme (ULIP), Unilever Challenge – Lipton Talent Hunt, Unilever Future Leaders Programme – Management Trainee (UFLP) and Direct Hires.

By making a presence at EDEX, Unilever Sri Lanka was able to reach out to the masses coming from various backgrounds within 2 days. Career guidance was provided to those who have still not decided their career path (Advanced Level qualified) and to graduates who will be amongst Unilever’s and Sri Lanka’s future leaders.

The Photo Booth Challenge proved to be an innovative way of engaging the students to like the USL Facebook Careers page, which resulted in a 30% increase in organic likes in just over two days. 270 group and individual photos were uploaded and shared under the #MADEBYYOU hashtag, with the group with the highest number of likes winning prizes after a week of competition. USL also sponsored Unilever Gift Hampers for 8 lucky draw winners, bringing more branding and prominence to Unilever.

Volunteers for the Unilever Sri Lanka team tirelessly spent time off their weekend to manage the stall. The nation’s future talent were enriched and enthused with the opportunity to interact with Unilever, and the team’s presence truly made a difference, as evidenced by the comments that have flowed in on the Facebook career page.
